Getting started

What is biqib?

biqib AI School is an AI teacher for Sri Lankan school students from Grade 1 to Grade 13, in Sinhala, Tamil and English medium. It teaches from your child's own NIE textbooks, page by page: it plans each evening's study, reads the lesson aloud, answers questions from the book, helps with homework without doing it - so the child's own ability and knowledge grow - marks photographed handwritten work with kind notes, and shows progress chapter by chapter.

How is biqib different from ChatGPT or other AI apps?

ChatGPT is a chat box that answers anything from anywhere. biqib is a school: it teaches only from your child's textbook and syllabus, in the NIE textbook's own chapter order, with a daily timetable. Lessons are read aloud in Sri Lankan Sinhala and Tamil voices. It has practice papers in the style of the real exams, marks the child's handwritten answer papers, finds the weak areas and advises what to revise. It never does the homework for the child but guides the child through it, so there is no copy-paste and no cheating. Younger children's accounts are held by a parent. And you pay one monthly price for a package - there are no credits to count.

Who can use biqib?

Any school student who follows the Sri Lankan NIE curriculum, from Grade 1 to Grade 13. For Grades 1 to 5 a parent or guardian opens and holds the account and sees everything the child does; from Grade 6 the account can be handed over to the student, with the parent keeping oversight until Grade 8. Before any work goes to the AI, the student and a parent agree to a short consent notice inside the app.

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No. Signing up is free, you get the Welcome package free as a welcome, and paid packages are paid by a local bank deposit at a teller machine or an online transfer. No card is ever asked for.

How do I get started?

Create the account at biqib.com (a parent does this for a child under Grade 6), choose the grade and medium, and take the Welcome package: three subjects, five days (three days for A/L), thirty minutes of AI teaching and three tutor questions a day, free and with no card. When it ends, choose a package on the Subscription page.

Packages and pricing

What is a package? Are there credits?

There are no credits. A package is a fixed set for a fixed time: how many subjects, how many minutes of AI teaching a day, how many tutor questions a day, and how many answer-paper pages a day the AI marks. Reading lessons, the notebook and past work are never counted or limited. Nothing carries over and nothing renews by itself. Cancel any time.

What does it cost?

Every package on sale, with today's price, is on the Packages & Prices page. A package covers every subject in the grade for less than one tuition class a month.

What is the Welcome package?

Five days free (three days for A/L), three subjects of your child's grade, thirty minutes of AI teaching and three tutor questions a day, no marking. It needs no card and it simply ends. Each student can have it once.

How do I pay?

By bank deposit or transfer. When you choose a paid package in the app, the school's account details, the package code (SKU) and your Student ID are sent to you at once by email and WhatsApp. Pay at the bank counter, a cash deposit machine or by online transfer, write the Student ID and the SKU on the slip, then upload a photo of the slip on the Subscription page within seven days. The school matches it on its bank statement, usually within one working day, and the package starts; a receipt comes by email and appears in the app.

Does a package renew or expire?

It ends on its last day and never auto-renews - you choose the next one when you are ready. After it ends your child can still sign in and read everything they did: lessons, marked work, progress. Only new teaching pauses until the next package.

Can I get a refund?

If you write to us by email or WhatsApp within 24 hours of a package starting, and the package has not been used, the payment is returned in full within seven days of the request; after that, the package runs to its end. Please use the Welcome package fully before you take a paid package.

Can I cancel anytime?

There is nothing to cancel: a package is paid once and ends on its date. If you do not want the next one, do not choose it. Your child's account and everything in it stay.

Can several students share one account?

No. One account is for one student. Everything in it - the timetable, the lessons, the tutor's memory, the marks and the stars - is built around that one child, and the Terms say so (Fair use of the AI: one student per account, a person not a script). If we find an account being used by more than one student, the account is blocked. A parent with several children does not need to share: one parent sign-in holds a separate profile for each child, each with its own subjects and progress, and each child needs their own package.

Using biqib

Which grades and languages?

Grade 1 to Grade 13, in Sinhala, Tamil and English medium, and the Tamil-English and Sinhala-English bilingual mediums from Grade 6. Every subject in the grade is there; if any subject is missing, write to us and we will add it.

Which subjects can biqib teach?

The subjects your child takes in their grade, from the NIE syllabus and the government textbooks: mathematics, science, languages, religion, history, geography, civics, ICT, business and accounting, the O/L baskets and the A/L streams. If any subject is missing, write to us and we will add it.

Can biqib help prepare for the O/L and A/L exams?

Yes. Every chapter has a recap and a topic test; each term has a model paper written in the style of the past papers, on the topics they examine most, at the same level; the O/L and A/L years get papers in the exam's own shape once past papers are loaded. Photographed answers are marked with a note on each question. biqib never claims to predict what will be asked in the exam.

Does it work in Sinhala and Tamil?

Fully. Lessons, the tutor, the practice papers and the marking comments are in the child's medium, and lessons are read aloud in Sri Lankan Sinhala and Tamil voices. You can type or speak a question in Sinhala, Tamil or English.

Is there a mobile app?

biqib runs in the phone's browser and is built for a phone screen; add app.biqib.com to your home screen and it opens like an app. There is no Play Store or App Store app yet.

Will it do my child's homework for them?

No, and that is deliberate. Ask it to solve a question and it will not; it works through an example of its own from the textbook and asks your child to try the next step. When the child photographs their own work, it checks it. Understanding is explained fully; the set work stays theirs.

How does the daily timetable work?

Each day the app plans which subjects to study and for how long, rotating fairly and giving more to a subject the child is behind in. Your child can give a subject more or less time, swap one out, set the start time and rest days, or make their own week - and the minutes re-share themselves.

How does marking work?

Photograph the exercise book page by page and send it. Each answer comes back with a tick or a kind note saying what went wrong and what to do next time; a missing unit is not marked wrong; unreadable handwriting is said to be unreadable, never guessed. The package sets how many pages a day can be marked.

Is the AI always right?

No. It teaches from the textbook to keep it honest; it shows the page it drew on, and it says when it cannot answer. Treat it as a patient teacher, not an oracle: if something looks wrong, check the book, and tell us through the app so we can fix the lesson for everyone.

Privacy and data

Where does my child's work go? Is it private?

Your child's lessons, questions, photographs and marks are stored so the app can teach from them and show progress, and are seen only by the account holder and the school's staff who support you. They are never sold or used for advertising. To mark work and answer questions, text and photographs are sent to the AI provider named in our Privacy Policy, under terms that forbid training on them; a parent or guardian and the child agree to this inside the app before any work goes to the AI.

Does biqib store conversations?

The tutor keeps the last few exchanges of each subject so a follow-up question makes sense, and your child can keep any answer in their Notebook. Older exchanges are pruned automatically.

How safe is biqib for a child?

It is built for children first: the tutor answers only from the textbook, it refuses attempts to change how it behaves, it never gives the homework answer, its language is checked to stay kind, younger children's accounts are held by a parent, and a parent can see everything. Our Child safety page sets out each protection in plain words. No filter is perfect, so we ask parents to stay close, and we act on every report.

Can my child's teacher or school see what they ask?

Only the account holder (the parent for a young child) and biqib's own support staff can see a child's work. Nobody outside biqib - not their school, not a teacher - sees it unless you choose to show them.

Account and support

I forgot my password. What do I do?

On the sign-in page choose Forgot password, and a reset link is emailed to the address you signed up with.

How do I change my password?

In the app, open Profile and choose Change your password: type the password you use now, then the new one twice. If you have forgotten it, use Forgot password on the sign-in page instead and a reset link is emailed to you.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Profile and choose Delete this account, or write to us from the address on the account. We delete the account and every record of your child's work, normally within 7 working days, and a confirmation is sent by email. Until it is done, everything stays as it is and you can cancel the request on the same page.

How do I contact biqib?

Through the Contact page on biqib.com, by email, or on WhatsApp. We answer on weekdays, usually within one working day, depending on how many messages we have.
