Lessons that teach, then ask
Each topic in the syllabus becomes a short lesson with questions along the way, read aloud in the child's language if they like.
biqib is an AI teacher for Sri Lankan students, from Grade 1 to Grade 13, in Sinhala, Tamil and English Mediums. It teaches the national syllabus, one grade and one subject at a time, from the same textbooks and other materials a child uses at their school.
The idea for biqib began in 2020, when schools were closed and students had no platform and no guidance for their study. A textbook gives the theory, but it cannot clear a child's doubts or answer their questions. After the schools reopened we kept seeing the same thing in many families: a child comes home with a pile of homework and, most evenings, there is nobody at home who can help with it. Tuition classes cost more every year, and the help that does exist is mostly for the older grades.
We wanted every child, from Grade 1 to A/L, to have a patient and responsible teacher at home in the evening: one who can teach every subject the child studies, in the language they think in, who explains the same thing in three different ways if that is what it takes, and never makes them feel slow for asking. And we wanted it affordable for every family, without a heavy weight on a parent's pocket.
I built biqib for the child who sits with a textbook at eight in the evening and has nobody to explain it and answer their questions. I felt this myself at school. The teacher will ask for the homework the next morning, and there is no one to help finish it; the exam is a step ahead, and there is no one to clear a doubt with. I know what it is to be stuck on one question and lose the whole evening to it.
biqib is my answer: a teacher who is always awake, speaks the child's language, and never runs out of patience. It will not replace a good school or a good teacher. It will make sure no child gives up on a subject because there was no one to explain it one more time.
If your child uses biqib, I would like to know how it went. Please write to us directly.

Founder, biqib AI
biqib is built and run by a small team, as a startup. We are not a school and we do not employ teachers; we build an AI application that teaches your child from the school syllabus, and we answer every message from a parent ourselves.
Each topic in the syllabus becomes a short lesson with questions along the way, read aloud in the child's language if they like.
A student types or speaks a question and gets an explanation built from their grade's material, not from the whole internet.
Photograph an answer sheet and it comes back marked, with a comment on each answer and what to practise next.
Daily tasks for each subject, recaps after each lesson, topic tests, and model papers in the style of the Term, Scholarship, O/L and A/L examinations.
A Grade 6 child never sees Grade 9 material, and an A/L student sees only their own stream.
biqib is a study aid. It works alongside school and teachers, not instead of them, and like any AI it can make mistakes. We say so on every screen where it matters.
Parents hold young children's accounts. A child below Grade 8 does not need an email address; a parent or guardian creates the account and signs in for them. From Grade 6 the account can be handed to the child, and the parent keeps sight of it until Grade 8.
Nothing that identifies a child leaves biqib. To answer a question or mark a page, the schoolwork is sent to AI services, some of them outside Sri Lanka and some of them free services that may keep the text. No name, email, phone number or school goes with it, and a test in our code fails if anybody tries to add one.
No advertising, no tracking, nothing sold. Our only income is the packages families pay for.
The full details are in our privacy policy and terms of service, written in plain words in all three languages.
A package covers a number of subjects and an amount of AI teaching time each day, for a fixed period. Payment is by bank transfer, confirmed by us; nothing renews by itself, and when a package ends the child keeps everything they have done.
We answer questions from parents, students and schools. If you run a school or a tuition class and want biqib for your students, please write to us; we would like to hear how you teach.
